About the position

The Logistics Supervisor at Essendant is responsible for overseeing the logistics operations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and managing the local P&L. This role involves carrier and fleet network management, customer interaction, and tactical execution of key initiatives to drive efficiency and performance within the supply chain. The supervisor will lead projects, manage teams, and develop logistics solutions while embodying the company's core values of integrity, collaboration, and customer-centricity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage carrier and fleet network, including RFP support, fleet optimization, and compliance.
  • Ensure safety, security, and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and DOT requirements.
  • Oversee last mile execution and customer service interactions, ensuring timely delivery and satisfaction.
  • Lead key projects and high-performance teams, driving change and identifying business opportunities.
  • Accountable for local P&L, budget management, and financial modeling.
  • Design and implement customer logistics solutions, conducting regular business reviews.
  • Act as a Safety Champion, striving for best-in-class safety performance metrics.
  • Respond to market developments and create action plans for customer initiatives.
  • Manage people, processes, budgets, and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience managing transportation, inbound logistics, and warehousing.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation and supply chain software (TMS, ERP, FMS).
  • Ability to interpret financial models related to budgets and strategic planning.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory issues (DOT compliance, hazmat).
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making and instill credibility in various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Transportation Professional Certification (CTP) preferred.
