About the position

The Logistics Support Specialist at Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is responsible for managing the order, receipt, storage, issue, and shipping of Contractor Acquired Material, Government Furnished Material, and Company Tools. This role is crucial in ensuring that military service members have the necessary materials to accomplish their missions. The specialist will maintain official documentation and issue files, providing essential support to the logistics function and ensuring compliance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare logistics documentation to establish the range and depth of spares, tools, test equipment, and related manuals to be deployed and stocked.
  • Determine maintenance and repair materials required for deployment.
  • Modify maintenance records such as repair standards for complex equipment or components.
  • Develop requisitions and manage records of equipment, components, repair parts, and related manuals.
  • Track logistics materials and parts for proper allocation of storage facilities.
  • Review configuration changes to evaluate impact on logistics deployment.
  • Document equipment, component, and parts conditions.
  • Identify logistic support documentation to be included, such as drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance requirement cards.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base credentials (DBIDS) and be a US Citizen.
  • Experience and understanding of shipping and receiving of material and supplies, including Government Furnished Material and Customer acquired material.
  • Experience and understanding of how hazmat items are stored, shipped, and disposed of.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools as they relate to inventory, issue, and storage as well as maintenance.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with data entry, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Security Clearance.
  • Knowledge of Government and Contractor Acquired Material as it relates to inventory, issue, and storage.
  • Experience in planning, drawing material kitting, and preparation for installation tasking.
  • Experience with DLA system and DRMO processing systems.
