About the position

D.C. United is offering a Logistics/Transportation Internship Position aimed at providing hands-on experience in a collaborative team-sport environment. The intern will assist with transportation programs for youth players in the D.C. United Academy, gaining insights into the workings of elite sports and the development of youth athletes in a professional setting. This internship is designed for individuals pursuing careers in sports management, business, or communication, and it emphasizes learning and growth within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all transportation program aspects for D.C. United Academy youth players as directed by the Academy Staff.
• Act as the main point of contact for the academy transportation program.
• Communicate and assist with college placement of academy players.
• Mentor youth athletes and support their development.
• Collaborate with academy staff members, players, and their parents.

Requirements

• Working towards or possess a bachelor's degree in sports management, business, communication, or a related area.
• Demonstrate intention and desire to work in sports management, business, communication, or consulting.
• Willingness to work with youth athletes in a professional environment.
• Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail skills.
• Willingness to communicate with academy staff, players, and parents.

Nice-to-haves

• 0-2 years' experience in sports management, business, communication, or a similar field.
• Experience working with the sport of soccer.
• Experience in a team-sport setting.
• Knowledge of MLS academies.
• Understanding of elite-level youth athletes.
