About the position

The Logistics and Warehouse Manager at Spectro Alloys Corporation is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all logistics and warehouse operations at the Rosemount, MN facility. This position focuses on optimizing safety, service levels, and shipping costs while managing department staff and processes to support the company's growth in aluminum recycling. The ideal candidate will lead a team, ensure efficient inventory control, and improve warehouse processes using advanced systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse and traffic department team members, establishing daily team status updates to discuss safety, customer issues, improvement opportunities, and team acknowledgments.
  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including efficient material flow to minimize the time trucks are at the dock, stage/load/quality confirmation of outbound shipments, receiving and put away, inventory management, and optimizing WMS and bar code process.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, coordinate with shipping partners for on-time delivery and utilize the TMS to minimize shipping costs.
  • Proactively staff and adjust workloads to support surges in customer shipments.
  • Partner and collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Finance to ensure customer requirements, documents and internal transactions are complete and accurate.
  • Analyze and forecast changes in cost impacting staff and shipping costs for P&L management.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise warehouse staff, set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Identify inefficiencies in logistics and warehouse operations and develop strategies for process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Ensure all warehouse operations are compliant with health, safety, and regulatory requirements; conduct regular safety checks and promote a safe work environment.
  • Monitor KPIs, prepare reports on warehouse and logistics performance, and provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with logistics providers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and cost-effective service.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in logistics and warehouse management, preferably in a manufacturing or recycling environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
  • Strong analytical skills to assess costs and improve processes.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and regulatory compliance in warehouse operations.
