Logistics Yard Coordinator

About the position

The Logistics Yard Coordinator at Target is responsible for managing daily trailer movements within the Distribution Center Yards, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining effective communication with DC executives. This role involves operating Target-owned vehicles, updating the yard management system, and monitoring trailer releases to ensure timely deliveries. The position emphasizes a safety-first culture and requires collaboration with various teams to optimize yard operations.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily trailer movement within Target's Distribution Center Yards.
• Foster a safety-first culture through awareness, training, and accountability.
• Work with carriers to ensure compliance with safety expectations.
• Operate Target-owned vehicles for yard audit routines.
• Update the yard management system to reflect the current status of all trailers.
• Communicate effectively with DC executives regarding trailer needs and movement.
• Monitor trailer releases to ensure timely deliveries to stores.
• Conduct trailer inventories and ensure equipment is available for maintenance checks.
• Collaborate with First Mile Transportation to monitor trailer pools and freight flow.

Requirements

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Possess or ability to obtain a valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task.
• Experience working in a high volume, high activity environment.
• Direct experience within a distribution center truck yard or traffic management preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
