About the position

The Logistics Yard Operations Manager (YOM) at Target is responsible for overseeing yard operations at the Regional Distribution Center in Midway, GA. This role emphasizes safety, leadership, and operational excellence, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment for all team members and drivers. The YOM will manage yard functions, collaborate with various stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize logistics operations and service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Oversee yard service provider and establish a good working relationship.
• Review yard driver schedules to meet operational requirements.
• Conduct routine business review meetings covering safety, staffing, and performance.
• Work with yard and maintenance providers to address process issues.
• Conduct daily yard safety audits and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Manage yard capacity and ensure trailers are staged appropriately.
• Touch base regularly with Yard Coordinators and attend contribution meetings.
• Assist in escalations and event management as needed.

Requirements

• 3+ years of previous supply chain experience.
• Experience managing third-party service providers.
• Experience in transportation load planning, yard management, or fleet management.
• Experience leading and influencing a team with shared goals.
• Strong training and mentoring skills with emphasis on team member development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
• Proven strength in problem solving and advanced data/statistical analysis.
