The Billing Associate is responsible for helping our customers maintain a sense of security and their well-being by effectively managing an assigned caseload of long-term care reimbursement and indemnity claims in a fair and ethical manner. This role is responsible for ensuring quality long-term care claim reimbursement and indemnity decisions and timely reimbursement and payment of benefits due that are in accordance with policy/contract provisions, regulations, and claim procedures. This includes review of policy values, calculation of waiting periods, benefit begin dates, and the maximum monthly long-term care benefit. The Billing Associate will also be expected to actively analyze level of care for each long-term care reimbursement and indemnity claim requests and timely transition the claim for further medical review, analysis, and management. The Billing Associate II is responsible for processing more complex billing. Additionally, the Billing Associate will be expected to deliver a high level of customer service by conducting proactive, empathetic, knowledgeable, and thoughtful communications with internal and external customers (i.e., claimant, insured, policyowner, power of attorney, agents, attorneys, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Effectively, accurately and timely communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers in accordance with departmental customer service protocols.
  • Correctly calculates and processes claim benefit payments due within authority level, in compliance with policy/contract provisions, regulations, and department procedures.
  • Prepares quality communication to agents, policy owners, insureds, beneficiaries, policyholders, medical providers, or other customer and business relationship parties.
  • Actively delivers results and contributes to and maintains or exceeds departmental deadlines, requirements, service, accuracy, timeliness, and performance standards.
  • Completes correct accounting transactions and clearing according to departmental procedures.
  • Meets or exceeds service expectations for clearing of accounting.
  • Demonstrate EWA and support of the OneAmerica Ways.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation in process.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Desired minimum of 2-4 years' work experience.
  • Prior experience within a claim's operation is preferred. Knowledge of insurance administration terms and processes is a plus.
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business Management, Operations Management, Statistics, or Insurance.
