About the position

The Long-Term Guest Teacher Substitute (non-certified) plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher. This position involves managing classroom activities, delivering instruction based on provided lesson plans, and ensuring adherence to educational policies. The substitute will be assigned to a specific school for the entire academic year, filling in for teacher absences as directed by the principal.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Study and follow the curriculum and lesson plan as provided by the absent teacher or the principal.
  • Effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students based on teacher provided lesson plans, school provided lesson plans, or grade/department level created plans aligned to curriculum.
  • Apply various teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning.
  • Prepare educational materials, such as notes, exercises and additional resources.
  • Assign classwork and homework.
  • Take attendance according to school policy.
  • Grade students' assignments and provide constructive feedback.
  • Report any incidents regarding students' behavior in and out of the classroom.
  • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or any breach of the district's Code of Student Conduct to the school administration as soon as possible.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Oversee school equipment and ensure students use it properly.
  • Participate in grade-level meetings, faculty meetings, student intervention teams and other committees normally assigned to the regular classroom teacher.
  • Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Create an inclusive environment with positive communication.
  • Perform related work as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Associate degree OR two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours OR ability to pass a formal assessment (ACT Workkeys and 96 hours) required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Minimum age 21 years old.
