About the position

The Long Term Paraprofessional Substitute at Frenchtown Elementary School is responsible for supporting teachers in achieving classroom objectives, particularly for students with disabilities. This part-time position is essential for maintaining continuity in the classroom during the absence of regular teachers, providing instructional support, and ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the instruction and reinforcement of material for all students, including those with disabilities.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Provide routine clerical support to teachers.
• Monitor and supervise students during play periods, lunch periods, and during student arrival and dismissal.
• Assist in the planning of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the supervision of the teacher.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior in all interactions.
• Serve as the chief source of information for substitute teachers during the absence of the regular teacher.
• Complete required job-related training successfully.
• Take appropriate action to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.

• Proficiency in essential computing applications as required.
• Ability to prioritize needs and requests of students and teachers.
