About the position
The East Greenwich School Department is seeking a Long Term Physical Education/Health Substitute Teacher for East Greenwich High School. This position is temporary and full-time, starting on November 12, 2024, and lasting until approximately April 22, 2025. The role involves utilizing developmental teaching methods in physical education and health, collaborating with support staff, and maintaining a positive learning environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes developmental teaching methods in physical and motor fitness, fundamental motor skills, and skills in individual sports and other activities.
- Collaborates with and coaches support staff within the classroom setting, maintaining routines and lessons for all students.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills.
- Adheres to all pertinent timeline dates, procedures, necessary paperwork, and case management duties.
- Utilizes de-escalation strategies (Safety Care Curriculum) with students as needed to assist in emotional and behavioral regulation of students in need.
- Reports all incidents of behavioral escalation to the school team.
Requirements
- Must have a valid teaching certificate issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- TB Test with negative result.
- BCI with fingerprints.
