About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher position at Essex Middle School is designed to cover for a leave of absence from February 2025 through June 2025. The role involves teaching art to middle school students and integrating social and emotional learning into the curriculum. The position is open to candidates who can hold a Vermont educator license, including those from out-of-state.

Responsibilities

• Teach art to middle school students during the absence of the regular teacher.
• Integrate social and emotional learning into the classroom to support student success.
• Work independently and collaboratively with other staff members.
• Engage with diverse community populations and promote inclusivity in the classroom.

Requirements

• Valid Educator license or ability to hold a Vermont educator license with appropriate elementary-level endorsement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
• Experience teaching elementary students is preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience living or working in another country.
• Ability to fluently speak more than one language.
• Peace Corps experience.
