About the position

The Long-Term Substitute - Culinary Facilitator at The Monarch School and Institute is responsible for managing and supporting the culinary program aimed at students with neurological differences. This role involves teaching baking and culinary skills, supervising students, and collaborating with faculty to create a supportive learning environment. The facilitator will also engage in community events and promote healthy lifestyle choices among students.

Responsibilities

• Support students in baking and culinary employment.
• Manage the entire culinary program.
• Implement The Monarch School model of teaching with a focus on self-regulation and executive functioning.
• Supervise students at all times, including after school and weekend activities.
• Plan yearlong culinary business activities and lessons tailored to individual learning styles.
• Serve as the teacher of record for various baking courses.
• Support student-run businesses and business development activities.
• Document and report on student progress to faculty.
• Participate in the development of student development plans.
• Attend faculty meetings and in-services as directed.
• Promote mindful eating and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Coordinate speakers, volunteers, and faculty for culinary instruction.

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor's degree in special education, education, or business preferred.
• 5 to 8 years' experience providing services to persons with neurological differences.
• Food Safety Manager's Certification or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Experience or interest in seed to table or horticulture.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in culinary education or program management.
• Knowledge of health department regulations related to food safety.
