About the position
The Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher position at Alexander CSD is designed for an experienced educator to provide instruction and support to students with disabilities in an elementary school setting. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and collaborating with co-professionals to meet the diverse needs of students. The position is expected to begin on or around March 10, 2025, and will continue through the end of the school year.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction for students with disabilities (SWDs) consistent with NYS standards and regulations.
- Plan for, provide, and document instruction for SWDs.
- Write, interpret, and administer Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Complete assessments and report findings as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Collaborate with co-professionals to support student learning.
- Understand and implement NYS mandates for Individual Education Plans.
Requirements
- Valid NYS Teacher Certification for Students with Disabilities All Grades or Grades 1-6.
- Experience in Elementary Special Education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-professionals.
- Strong communication skills with students and parents.
- Competence in completing assessments and reporting.
