About the position

The Long-Term Substitute English Teacher will be responsible for teaching English to students in grades 11-12 at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School. This role involves developing lesson plans, delivering instruction in accordance with state curriculum frameworks, and monitoring student progress. The teacher will also engage with parents and attend special education meetings, ensuring a supportive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities

• Teaches English full-time to students in grades 11-12.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the competency-based course of study.
• Develops lesson plans, maintains a plan book, and organizes class time effectively.
• Delivers instruction in accordance with the Curriculum Frameworks issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Grades and monitors student progress through progress reports and report cards.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors regarding individual pupil progress.
• Attends special education IEP meetings as required.
• Promotes the learning and growth of all students through ethical and collaborative practice.
• Provides supervision and extra help to students as needed.
• Attends meetings as required by the teacher contracts.
• Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.

Requirements

• Full-time teaching experience in English or related field.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for English Language Arts.
• Ability to develop lesson plans and organize classroom activities.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff.
• Experience with special education and IEP processes.
