About the position

The Long Term Substitute Music Teacher for Grades 3-5 at Malletts Bay School is responsible for planning and implementing music education activities in alignment with the district's curriculum. This role involves collaboration with other music educators and participation in school and community music initiatives, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

• Plans, presents, and evaluates a flexible, sequential, written curriculum for music education.
• Cooperates with districtwide music teachers to refine curriculum and coordinate K-12 initiatives.
• Promotes and maintains an exciting and challenging environment in music classes.
• Acts as a resource for classroom teachers in integrating music into their activities.
• Budgets, orders, organizes, and stores supplies and equipment for the music program.
• Attends and contributes to school and district meetings.
• Promotes music and arts education within the community.
• Plans, schedules, and participates in musical performances with students.
• Demonstrates individual professional growth in music and teaching areas.

Requirements

• Teacher licensing requirements as defined by the VT State Department of Education.
• Current endorsement in music education.
• Demonstrated experience in integrating music and the arts into curricula.
• Collaborative support for the arts within schools and the community.
• Previous teaching experience and/or performance as a musician is highly desirable.
• Commitment to the district's mission and strategic plan.
