About the position

The Dallastown Area School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Health and Physical Education Teacher for grades 9-12. This position aims to inspire and create pathways for student success, with an assignment expected to last from late February 2025 through early June 2025, coinciding with the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a safe and conducive classroom environment for individualized and small-group instruction and student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area and translate lesson plans into learning experiences.
  • Teach knowledge and skills while promoting creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
  • Design learning activities that apply to everyday existence and problem-solving.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student needs.
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and follow current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or conducting research.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.
  • Coordinate with other professional staff members and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid PA Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate: Health & Physical Education PK-12 (4805) required
  • Related teaching experience preferred
  • Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignments within the school setting
  • Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents
