About the position

The Long Term Substitute High School Physics/Chemistry Teacher position at Community Charter School of Cambridge (CCSC) is a full-time, temporary role for the 2024-25 academic year, specifically from November to January. The teacher will be responsible for instructing three sections of high school physics and one section of high school chemistry, while also fulfilling all regular duties and commitments of CCSC staff. This role emphasizes academic progress, collaboration, and a commitment to equity and restorative justice within a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

• Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students
• Work collaboratively to create and implement a program of study that is intellectually challenging
• Work with a diverse student body from Cambridge, Boston, and surrounding cities
• Promote a school-wide culture of respect using the principles of restorative justice
• Design and implement lessons that integrate multidisciplinary science practices with scientific content
• Integrate tiered supports into lessons that allow all students to access the curriculum
• Engage with families regularly to support students' learning and well-being
• Participate in myriad forms of professional development as scheduled for all faculty

Requirements

• Lead-teaching experience in high school science preferred
• Teaching experience in a similar setting preferred
• BA or BS required; appropriate graduate coursework preferred
• Proper licensure preferred, but not required
