About the position

The Long Term Substitute position at Fall River Public Schools is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to fostering a positive learning environment for students. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuity of education during the absence of the regular classroom teacher, ensuring that students receive the necessary instruction and support to thrive academically and socially. As a Long Term Substitute, you will be responsible for managing student learning in accordance with the goals of the Fall River Public School District. This includes implementing lesson plans effectively while ensuring the integrity of academic time. You will motivate students to learn and participate actively in their education. Organizing students for effective instruction is key, as is providing adequate supervision to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all students in your care. Confidentiality is paramount in this role, and you will be expected to maintain and respect the privacy of student and school personnel information. Compliance with school and district regulations and policies is essential, as is the ability to follow both oral and written directions. Establishing effective working relationships with staff and students is critical to creating a supportive classroom environment. You will also be responsible for reporting any student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or discipline problems to the appropriate authority promptly. Additional duties may be assigned by building administrators in accordance with district policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage student learning in accordance with the goals of the Fall River Public School District.
  • Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.
  • Organize students for effective instruction.
  • Ensure adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
  • Comply with and support school and District regulations and policies.
  • Follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
  • Maintain effective classroom management strategies.
  • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with District policies and practices.

Requirements

  • 60 College Credits (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
  • Classroom management experience
  • Classroom experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
