The Long-Term Substitute, Math, MS Team Leader at Earle B. Wood Middle School is a full-time position responsible for coordinating and managing the operations of a grade level team. The individual in this role will serve as an effective facilitator, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaboration with all stakeholders to benefit students. The team leader will focus on the coordination of the grade level instructional program and foster collaboration among teachers across grade level teams. This includes analyzing grade level and individual student achievement data to ensure that school improvement targets are being met. Additionally, the team leader will promote and facilitate student and parent engagement, participating on the Leadership Team to ensure that all school initiatives are implemented effectively. To support these additional responsibilities, the team leader will receive additional time and compensation. The position requires the individual to meet the Maryland State Department of Education certification requirements for a middle school assignment. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of grade level curriculum, assessment, and instruction, along with demonstrated excellence in teaching. Understanding the unique needs of middle school students is crucial, as is the ability to work well with students, teachers, and administrators. Strong skills in data collection and analysis of formative and summative data sources are essential, as well as proficiency in technology. Familiarity with the master schedule and Baldrige tools and practices will be beneficial. Outstanding facilitation, organizational, and management skills are necessary, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates must hold a master's degree or its equivalent in semester hours of credit from an accredited institution, or be within one year of fulfilling this requirement. A minimum of three years of outstanding teaching experience is required, with one year of experience in Montgomery County Public Schools preferred. Experience teaching in middle school is essential, and candidates should demonstrate excellent skills in working effectively with people. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills to perform effectively in the position may also be considered. Selection for this position will be made by the principal and a team that includes teachers from the grade level team, and the individual will be evaluated using the standards of the Teacher Professional Growth System.
