About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher position at Essex High School is an opportunity for a passionate educator to teach Algebra and Pre-calculus from January through the end of the 24/25 school year. The role is designed for candidates who are committed to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive learning environment, and who can effectively engage with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Teach Algebra and Pre-calculus to high school students.
• Create a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
• Utilize and integrate current technology to support instruction.
• Design and deliver instruction based on knowledge of the student population and demographic variables.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities to enhance teaching practices.

Requirements

• Hold (or be eligible to hold) a valid Vermont educator license with an applicable endorsement.
• Demonstrate a deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
• Successful experience with professional collaboration.
