About The Position
Greenwich Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE long-term substitute mathematics teacher from approximately August 26, 2024, through approximately January 22, 2025. This position carries full salary and benefits for the duration of the assignment. The primary purpose of this role is to provide an instructional program that will help students develop critical mathematical skills and reasoning abilities. The teacher will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, allowing students to engage with rigorous real-world math problems. The long-term substitute mathematics teacher will implement the GPS mathematics curriculum in alignment with the school district's goals, mission, and vision. This includes developing lesson plans and instructional materials that translate into effective learning experiences, incorporating inquiry-based learning opportunities, and conducting ongoing assessments of student learning. The teacher will modify instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs, and provide timely feedback to enhance student achievement. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the teacher will maintain accurate records of student activities, achievement, and attendance, encourage parental involvement in education, and ensure effective communication with students and parents. The role also involves collaborating with other school professionals to evaluate and assess curriculum, participating in faculty meetings, and staying updated on current developments in the educational field through professional development opportunities. The teacher will also incorporate technology and digital tools into instruction and adapt curriculum to maximize student achievement on standardized tests.
