About the position
The Franklin Public Schools, a Prek-12 district, is seeking a skilled and experienced long term substitute special education teacher to serve at the Keller Elementary School. The teacher will work in a model of service delivery offering academic support and co-teaching in the general education classrooms combined with pull out specialized instruction for small groups and individuals. Students requiring assistance and support have mild to moderate disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan for the effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs within and outside the general education classroom
- Provide specialized reading instruction using a research based multi-sensory reading program
- Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of caseload students
- Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems
- Schedule, prepare for, and attend Team meetings for newly referred and caseload students
- Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs
- Collaborate with general education staff with respect to appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Provide ongoing positive communication with parents
- Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals
