About the position
The Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher will provide educational support to high school students with special needs. This role is essential for maintaining continuity in the classroom during the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students receive the necessary instruction and support tailored to their individual learning requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and support to high school students with special needs.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices.
- Monitor and assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student needs and progress.
Requirements
- NYS Special Education certification for grades 7-12 or K-12 is required.
- Experience working with high school students with special needs is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
