About the position

The Long Term Substitute Teacher for Art is responsible for delivering high-quality instructional experiences through creativity, resourcefulness, and sound judgment. This role is consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards, and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools. The teacher will assume responsibilities for effective planning, assessment of curriculum and instruction, and management of the classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Remain up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Effectively plan and assess curriculum and instruction.
• Mentor students' understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
• Manage the classroom environment effectively.
• Provide effective instruction, making learning goals clear to students and using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
• Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, and second language learners.

Requirements

• DESE Licensure in Art
• Bachelor's Degree
• SEI Endorsement

Nice-to-haves

• Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
• Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition
• Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, or an African Language.
