About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Elementary Art at Bristol Local Schools is a vital role that supports the educational needs of students during the absence of the regular teacher. This position is expected to commence on August 21, 2024, and conclude on November 15, 2024. The substitute teacher will be responsible for delivering art instruction to elementary students, ensuring that the curriculum is followed and that students engage in creative and educational activities that foster their artistic skills and appreciation for the arts. The role requires a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment, where students feel encouraged to express themselves and explore their creativity. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Long-Term Substitute Teacher will collaborate with the Elementary School Principal and other staff members to ensure a seamless transition for students. This includes preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and communicating effectively with parents and guardians regarding their children's performance and behavior in class. The substitute teacher will also be expected to utilize various instructional strategies and technology tools to enhance the learning experience and adapt to the diverse needs of students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of art education and teaching methodologies, along with the ability to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. The position requires effective communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
  • Valid ODE license.
  • Successful background checks.
  • Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Effective, active listening skills.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Training in varied instructional design.
  • Variable technology use, i.e., grading software, etc.
