About the position

The Long Term Substitute Teacher for Grade 7 Special Education at Natick Public Schools is responsible for managing the classroom and providing instruction tailored to the needs of students with disabilities. This role includes developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), assessing student progress, and collaborating with other educators to ensure that all students receive the support they need. The position is set to run from January 8 to April 17, and the teacher will work closely with classroom staff and parents to foster a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day classroom activities and instruction for students with special needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Assess student progress and adapt curriculum as necessary.
  • Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to meet student needs.
  • Supervise classroom staff and maintain ongoing communication with parents.
  • Design and implement behavior and incentive plans to support students' social-emotional needs.
  • Conduct educational evaluations and progress monitoring for students.
  • Facilitate ongoing parent communication and encourage family involvement.
  • Participate in professional development to support school and district initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education; Master's preferred.
  • MA DESE licensure in Special Education.
  • MA DESE SEI Endorsement.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze student data to inform instruction.
  • Understanding of child/adolescent development and best instructional practices for students with special abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of district, state, and federal policies regarding students with disabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a diverse public school setting.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Experience with English language learners.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and PowerSchool.
