About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Health Education is responsible for providing instructional support and maintaining a conducive learning environment for students. This role involves implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring that all students have equal opportunities for learning. The substitute teacher will work closely with the school principal and other staff to achieve educational goals and maintain professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide for instructional needs and interests of students with effective daily lesson planning.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and effectively utilize classroom time.
• Demonstrate a variety of teaching techniques and instructional resources to implement the approved curriculum.
• Use evaluation effectively to promote student growth and development in various aspects.
• Demonstrate fair, firm, and consistent behavior towards students and promote self-discipline.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Guide the learning process toward achieving school system goals and objectives.
• Assist administration and staff in reaching the school's mission by applying ethical standards.
• Maintain and improve professional competencies and supervise students in various settings.
• Maintain appropriate records and monitor the use and care of equipment and materials.

Requirements

• An Associate's degree or 60 college credits.
• Knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Nice-to-haves

• Possess a Bachelor's/Master's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Possess MSDE issued professional teacher certificate with appropriate content endorsement.
• Bilingual (Spanish) and familiarity with FCPS policies, goals, and programs.
