About the position

The Siemens Child Development Center is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for preschool classrooms from November 18 to March 2025. This temporary, contract position emphasizes a collaborative, team-based culture inspired by the Reggio Emilia schools and the RIE philosophy. Ideal candidates will have a joyful and respectful attitude towards children, be keen observers and communicators, and enjoy outdoor activities with children. The role involves curriculum development and implementation that responds to children's interests, as well as maintaining open communication with colleagues and parents.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily play and work of the school through curriculum development and implementation that is responsive to children's interests.
• Maintain open and constructive communication with colleagues and parents.
• Spend time outdoors daily.

Requirements

• Some experience working with young children, preferably in a child care setting.
• No degree required, but preference for candidates who are a step 6 or above.
• Ability to commit to the full-time frame.
• Pass a Background Check and be enrolled in the Oregon Child Care Criminal History Registry.
• Have a valid Oregon food handler's card prior to employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a child care setting is preferred.
