About the position

The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for the Vocational Independence Program at Monson Public Schools is responsible for teaching a specialized program designed for students aged 18-22 with various disabilities. This role focuses on promoting independent learning and skill acquisition in a multi-grade classroom setting, while collaborating with school staff and external agencies to support student integration and development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a multi-grade class for students aged 18-22 with various disabilities.
  • Support students' acquisition of skills to promote independent learning.
  • Collaborate with school staff to promote maximum integration of students.
  • Participate actively in Team meeting processes.
  • Develop appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' disabilities.
  • Collaborate with other student support personnel and outside agencies to educate and support students.

Requirements

  • Experience in teaching a multi-grade class with students of various disabilities (Social/Emotional, ASD) in a sub-separate classroom.
  • Ability to support students' acquisition of skills to promote independent learning.
  • Previous training in de-escalation and physical restraint preferred.
