About the position

This position serves as the Scrum Master for the PolicyCenter and BillingCenter Team. The Scrum Master is responsible for leading their team through the sprint process, managing the sprint process, and coordinating activities with the Functional and Integration Tracks. This role involves completing the analysis and interpretation of business requirements into application and systems design documentation for mid- to large-scale system projects and leading teams in these same activities. Additionally, the Scrum Master will assist in the coordination of functional, non-functional, and user acceptance testing and may provide third-tier production support of assigned systems. The Scrum Master will lead their team through the sprint process to build and demonstrate the selected items for the sprint and continue to lead the team through the testing and stabilization activities. They will manage the sprint process, product backlog (working in coordination with the Customer Product Owner and Guidewire Product Lead), and sprint backlog. Coordination of activities with the Customer Team Leads/Scrum Masters for their product track is also a key responsibility, as is coordinating dependencies across the Product Backlog for each sprint with other Customer Team Leads/Scrum Masters. Facilitating team meetings, modeling ethical behavior, and executing job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens' core values, ethics, and information protection policies are essential functions of this role. The Scrum Master will lead discovery meetings with Business Analysts and business representatives to gather documentation related to business processes, functional requirements, and workflows for mid- to large-scale system development projects. They will work with Business Analysts to interpret customer requirements into systems design documentation, utilizing various tools and techniques such as Word, Visio diagrams, flowcharts, use-cases, swim lane diagrams, UML diagrams, prototypes, and pseudo code. In addition, incumbents working as Integration Systems Analysts will be responsible for designing analytical models (BPEL/BPMN) and technical specifications (XSD/XSLT/XML/WSDL). The Scrum Master will lead the tracking of changes to system requirements throughout the development, testing, and maintenance lifecycle, maintaining accurate documentation at all times. Continuous communication with end users and developers throughout the systems development lifecycle is crucial to ensure the final product meets the requirements and expected outcomes of the customer, particularly regarding application, reporting, and integration functionality and presentation. The Scrum Master will assist the Quality Assurance staff in developing and executing test plans and scripts, lead the development and maintenance of end-user manuals and systems documentation, and provide subject matter expertise in the development of system enhancements. They will also provide early notification of issues potentially affecting workflow efficiency, end user functionality, system interoperability, etc. Furthermore, the Scrum Master will assist in retrieving information from application data sources for end users, analyze manual processes, and recommend automated and alternative process recommendations, identifying necessary triggers and dependent events. Researching, evaluating, and recommending technical solutions, including commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software, customized messaging protocols, internal application development, data transformations and migrations, and reporting solutions, will also be part of their responsibilities. Participation in the development of corporate standards for Business Design Documents (BDD), Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and System Design Methodology (SDM) is expected, along with providing mentoring and leadership to standard Systems Analysts as needed. Additional responsibilities for Integration Systems Analysts include creating, administering, and governing the service blueprint repository and the enterprise repository for easy access.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role leading Agile teams.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Word, Visio, and UML diagrams.
  • Experience in managing product backlogs and sprint processes.
  • Ability to facilitate team meetings and coordinate activities across teams.
  • Strong communication skills to maintain continuous communication with end users and developers.
  • Experience in leading discovery meetings and gathering business requirements.
  • Ability to analyze manual processes and recommend automation solutions.
