About the position

The Frontend Developer position is a hybrid role based in Lansing, MI, supporting the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Development and Maintenance programs. The developer will collaborate with project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts to create and maintain reusable UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust. The role emphasizes compliance with ADA and WCAG 2.1 standards, ensuring that all development is tested for accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts.
• Develop and maintain reusable UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust.
• Test all development for accessibility using Jaws reader and multiple browser plugins.

Requirements

• Strong background with React.js (5 years required).
• Experience with HTML5 and CSS Frameworks (5 years required).
• Strong knowledge of ADA, WCAG 2.1, Section 508 compliance policies, and User Experience design principles (5 years required).
• Experience with current JAVA and relevant IDE tools such as Eclipse/Jboss Developer Studio (3 years required).
• Experience programming in projects using the JPA framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming in projects using the current Spring framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Spring Boot and Spring Data (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Java 8+ (3 years required).
• Experience participating as a programmer within an Agile development environment (2 years required).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience programming in the JBOSS Enterprise environment (2 years desired).
• Clear and concise communication skills.
