The GIS Data Architect position is a critical role within the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) Agency Services, specifically supporting the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This position is designed for a professional with a strong background in GIS-IT and enterprise data architecture, who will work closely with various stakeholders including the Enterprise Application Architect, Enterprise Data Architect, and MDOT's GIS Team. The role requires a deep understanding of GIS data needs and the ability to develop effective data solutions that integrate GIS systems with other applications, both in-house and vendor-based. The GIS Data Architect will be responsible for collaborating with GIS data authors and consumers, as well as with administrators and specialists in the Roads & Highways domain. This collaboration will involve working with MDOT's Spatial Data Engine (SDE) Geodatabase Administrators, information management staff, solution developers, and business domain stakeholders such as information managers and data stewards. The architect will play a key role in understanding the data collected in the Roads & Highways Database and the data needs of MDOT's applications, ensuring accuracy, standardization, and synchronization of GIS data across platforms. In addition to integration responsibilities, the GIS Data Architect will manage the ArcGIS License manager, which includes setting up and updating MDOT's ESRI License manager and periodically adding licenses. This position is hybrid, requiring onsite presence two days a week, and candidates must be located within a commutable distance to Lansing, MI. The role demands excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various levels of the organization and to represent DTMB Agency Services in key meetings regarding GIS data.
