About the position

The Loper Success Hub Operations Specialist is a pivotal role at the University of Nebraska Kearney, serving as the first point of contact for visitors to the newly established Loper Success Hub, which is set to open in Fall 2024 on the second floor of the Calvin T. Ryan Library. This hub aims to unify various academic support services, including Academic Advising & Career Development, Disability Services for Students, TRIO-Student Support Services, Kearney Bound Scholars, first-generation student success initiatives, the Writing Center, Tutoring, and Success Coaching. The Operations Specialist will be instrumental in connecting students with the appropriate campus resources, ensuring a seamless experience for all visitors. In this role, the Operations Specialist will assist in the effective operation of the Loper Success Hub by managing data and budgetary needs. This includes collaborating with leadership to identify data requirements and enhance the hub's effectiveness through meticulous data management and analysis. Strong interpersonal skills, a comprehensive understanding of campus resources, and a keen attention to detail are essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will be committed to the mission of the Loper Success Hub, dedicated to fostering academic success for all UNK students through a validating and supportive approach that recognizes the unique attributes and needs of each individual. Key responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering calls, responding to emails, and maintaining a welcoming environment. The Operations Specialist will direct students to appropriate services, schedule appointments, and ensure confidentiality regarding student information. Additionally, the role involves collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information from various systems such as Webfocus, SalesforceCRM, Qualtrics, and PeopleSoft. The specialist will track student engagement, manage usage data, and maintain relevant files to assist the University in identifying at-risk students and enhancing retention efforts. Participation in leadership meetings, budget preparation, and monitoring expenses are also critical components of this position. The Operations Specialist will support event planning and logistics for programs within the Loper Success Hub and other campus locations, including the First-Gen Trailblazer Academy. This includes coordinating room reservations, meal arrangements, and promotional activities for Loper Success Hub services. The role also involves hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating student workers at the welcome desk, ensuring a well-functioning team to support the hub's operations. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to further support the Loper Success Hub's mission and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact point for visitors at the Loper Success Hub.
  • Assist in creating a welcoming environment that promotes a holistic approach to student success.
  • Greet visitors, answer incoming calls, and respond to emails and messages across various formats.
  • Direct students and other visitors to appropriate services and staff within the Loper Success Hub.
  • Schedule appointments and guide walk-ins to available resources while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, analysis, and dissemination of information from systems such as Webfocus, SalesforceCRM, Qualtrics, and PeopleSoft.
  • Track student engagement within the hub, manage usage data, and maintain relevant files and databases.
  • Organize data to support assessment processes, targeted outreach, and service utilization analyses.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, assist with annual budget preparations, and monitor monthly expenses.
  • Assist with planning and supporting events within the Loper Success Hub and other campus locations.
  • Coordinate logistics for programs such as the First-Gen Trailblazer Academy, including room reservations and meal arrangements.
  • Promote Loper Success Hub services through coordinated classroom visits and campus events.
  • Represent the Loper Success Hub at various campus events, ensuring appropriate presence at activities hosted by Admissions and other departments.
  • Help hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and approve weekly timesheets for Loper Success Hub Leaders (student workers).
  • Undertake additional tasks as required to support the Loper Success Hub operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least two years of experience in a customer-facing office position or similar setting.
  • Demonstrated experience providing customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and other electronic data resources.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
