As a Loss Control Specialist at Farm Bureau Financial Services, you will play a crucial role in evaluating losses and exposures for our client members and agents. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct on-site surveys to investigate and analyze risk exposures and loss experiences, particularly focusing on commercial accounts. You will recommend solutions to assist client members in avoiding or reducing losses, ensuring that they feel confident in the protection of their family, home, cars, and other properties. This position requires a proactive approach, as you will be expected to provide risk assessment and risk improvement consultations on accounts of various sizes, selected based on premium, loss experience, exposures, and other criteria. In addition to your analytical duties, you will facilitate loss control training programs, workshops, and seminars for client members and agents, helping to educate them on best practices in risk management. You will also participate in the development and research of innovative, distinctive, and cost-effective loss control services and tools. As part of a small but growing team, flexibility is key, as you will have other job-related duties and special projects assigned to you. To succeed in this role, you must possess a college degree or equivalent experience, along with at least five years of relevant experience, including three to five years specifically in Loss Control or Safety. Continued progress towards industry education and maintenance of designations such as ARM or CSP is expected. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills are essential, as is a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills. You will need to demonstrate excellent customer service and facilitation skills, with solid verbal and written communication abilities. Additionally, proficiency in computer skills is required to quickly learn the various systems used in this role. Physical demands include the ability to work under various weather conditions and perform safety and property inspections that may require moving over uneven terrain, climbing, and other physical tasks. You may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds infrequently. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary, as you will be provided with a company vehicle for your daily travel within your territory, which includes significant overnight travel (75%).
