About the position
The Loss Mitigation Specialist at Flat Branch Home Loans is responsible for auditing and reviewing past due mortgage loans across all stages of delinquency to ensure compliance with government, investor, and client guidelines. This hybrid position also involves training and supporting staff in the Default department, while actively engaging in efforts to prevent foreclosure through various financial solutions.
Responsibilities
- Auditing and updating Default reporting to ensure compliance with guidelines.
- Providing feedback to default departments for timely and accurate reporting.
- Assisting Team Lead with credit reporting and overflow of claims.
- Supporting the Collection Department with inbound calls as needed.
- Submitting requests for deferments and financial hardship assistance.
- Engaging in efforts to prevent foreclosure through loan modifications and repayment plans.
- Analyzing and underwriting borrower's income through document review.
- Identifying opportunities to shorten timelines and minimize loss.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- 2+ years of mortgage experience required.
- 3+ years of direct experience in Loss Mitigation.
- Working knowledge of mortgage documents and understanding of the mortgage life cycle.
- General understanding of servicing agency loans: FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA/USDA.
- Attention to detail and high degree of self-motivation.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships.
- Problem solving, discretion, and judgment skills to handle exceptions.
- Ability to interpret and apply policy and regulations quickly.
