About the position

The Loss Prevention Fraud Analyst at Buckle is responsible for investigating all loss prevention issues, both external and internal, and reviewing reports designed to identify loss and violations of company policies and procedures. This role involves handling various financial discrepancies, including returned check issues, credit card disputes, and fraudulent returns by both guests and teammates. The analyst will monitor cash shortages, bank adjustments, and investigate missing deposits and Automated Clearing House (ACH) bank returns. The position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with store managers and the Head of Loss Prevention to ensure that all issues are addressed promptly and accurately. In this role, the analyst will obtain information from store managers regarding shoplifting incidents and assist in confirming inventory loss. They will also monitor and investigate fraudulent returns, ensuring that the validity of information provided during return transactions is assessed. The analyst will handle inquiries from guests about gift card balances and credit transactions, review discounted gift cards, and monitor teammate gift purchases for accuracy. Additionally, they will verify and process non-sufficient funds payments and investigate credit card disputes, providing necessary documentation to credit card companies as required. The analyst will also be responsible for reviewing loyalty program reports, investigating suspicious transactions, and monitoring cash refund reports for abnormal activity. They will analyze bank reconciliation spreadsheets and report counterfeit money to the appropriate authorities. The role requires the ability to analyze various reports related to discounts, voided transactions, and promotions, and to communicate effectively with store managers to resolve any issues. The analyst will also assist in creating informative newsletters related to loss prevention and carry the Loss Prevention on-call phone to address after-hours situations as needed. Overall, this position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of Buckle's financial operations and ensuring a high level of guest service while contributing to a positive team spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate all loss prevention issues, both external and internal.
  • Handle returned check issues and answer questions on Buckle gift cards.
  • Investigate layaway and loyalty issues, and fraudulent returns by guests and teammates.
  • Monitor cash shortages, bank adjustments, and late deposits.
  • Investigate missing and outstanding deposits and ACH bank returns.
  • Obtain information from store managers on shoplifting incidents and assist with investigations.
  • Monitor and investigate fraudulent guest and teammate returns.
  • Handle phone inquiries from guests regarding gift card balances and credit transactions.
  • Review discounted gift cards and balance daily gift card reports.
  • Monitor teammate gift purchases for correct discount and communicate errors to store managers.
  • Verify and process all NSF payments and transaction corrections.
  • Review credit card disputes and provide necessary documentation to credit card companies.
  • Investigate late and outstanding deposits and review findings with store managers.
  • Review loyalty program reports and investigate suspicious transactions.
  • Monitor cash refund reports and investigate abnormal numbers of refunds.
  • Investigate register overages and shortages for all stores.
  • Review bank reconciliation spreadsheets and investigate bank adjustments.
  • Verify and report counterfeit money to the proper authorities.
  • Analyze reports related to layaway and assist stores with layaway efficiency.
  • Maintain key holder records for all stores and make necessary changes.
  • Handle year-end inventory discrepancy corrections with store managers.
  • Carry the Loss Prevention on-call phone for one week at a time.
  • Assist in creating informative Loss Prevention newsletters.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
