The Loss Prevention Specialist (LPS) is a crucial hourly associate role within Amazon Operations, responsible for overseeing security services and protecting various assets, including lives, buildings, equipment, inventory, data, and intellectual property within a designated facility. The LPS plays a vital role in supporting the Operational team and collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the organization. This position is site-based and reports directly to the Loss Prevention Site Lead, who is accountable for the facility's overall security operations. In this role, the LPS will lead and conduct investigations related to theft, fraud, and workplace violence or critical incidents. They are expected to prepare comprehensive reports on these incidents and implement policy guidance, education, and mitigation strategies to meet business demands effectively. The LPS serves as a liaison and subject matter expert in security and crisis management for site leadership, ensuring they are informed about key issues, strategies, and departmental performance. The LPS will analyze data, conduct audits, and identify trends to create actionable plans aimed at mitigating risks. Maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and personnel issues is paramount. The role requires effective partnerships with internal customers to evaluate current and future security services, processes, and initiatives. Additionally, the LPS will develop strategies for alarm reduction and conduct diagnostics on problematic security devices, ensuring effective communication with both internal and external partners. Training and orienting new associates in loss prevention culture is also a key responsibility. The LPS will continuously improve physical security, processes, standards, training, and policies to support future growth. They will ensure compliance with internal controls related to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements, particularly concerning data center access controls, inventory control, and record-keeping. Promoting and executing security best practices is essential, as is auditing the physical security infrastructure, including intrusion detection systems, access control, and surveillance cameras. The position requires working in an industrial environment, which may involve walking up to 5 miles a day and lifting up to 20 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation. As a member of the AMER Region Loss Prevention Team, the LPS will collaborate with various site and regional leaders across multiple operational disciplines to drive efficiency and loss reduction efforts. The role also involves working weekends and/or overnight shifts as necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of security operations at Amazon.
