About the position

The Lot Operations Specialist II position at Cox Automotive is a critical role responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of vehicles through the FIT tunnel at the Manheim Auto Auction in Euless, TX. This position requires a keen attention to detail, as the specialist must ensure that vehicles are properly aligned and that the tunnel operates smoothly. Daily responsibilities include conducting inspections of support equipment, performing routine maintenance checks, and ensuring that the area remains clean and organized. The specialist will also monitor the FIT tunnel's operational status, coordinating with team members to address any issues that may arise, such as the tunnel going offline. In addition to the technical aspects of the role, the Lot Operations Specialist II will conduct pre-sale meetings with drivers to discuss return routes and overflow areas, ensuring that all vehicles are in their assigned lanes. The specialist will maintain a run list to track vehicles that may have missing keys or late entries, and will respond to inquiries from customers and dealers regarding vehicle status. This position also involves overseeing the movement of vehicles to maintain a continuous flow of traffic, as well as reporting any theft, damage, or safety concerns to management. Candidates for this role should possess a high school diploma or GED, along with at least three years of experience in a related field. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates should have basic mechanical knowledge to identify common vehicle issues. Preferred qualifications include experience in auction environments and familiarity with lot operations. The role demands physical stamina, as the specialist will be required to stand for long periods and walk significant distances in an outdoor environment, often under varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspection of support equipment for proper working order.
  • Conduct pre-sale meeting with drivers identifying driver return routes, overflow areas, plan changes, etc.
  • Conduct presale walk to ensure vehicles are in assigned lane as scheduled.
  • Identify and address missing vehicles, overflow areas, inoperable vehicles and other issues.
  • Maintain the run list indicating vehicles with no keys, late vehicle entries, and/or late number changes.
  • Respond to customer and dealer inquiries and concerns.
  • Coordinate and direct vehicle movement to maintain continuous flow of traffic to the block.
  • Oversee parking sold vehicles and re-parking non-sold vehicles.
  • Report theft, lot damage, or any safety concerns to management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of experience in a related field or a combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of identifying vehicle issues such as flat tires and low gas.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months of auction or driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of lot operations/lot layout preferred.
  • Knowledge of LDM preferred.
