About the position

The Product Development Manager at Loungefly will lead and support a team of Product Developers for specific accounts, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective team management. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in product development and manufacturing processes, as well as strong leadership skills to coach and develop the team. The manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure timely project execution and maintain product quality and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team and direct reports, providing coaching, direction, and development opportunities.
  • Lead and assign workflow of initial specs to the Product Development team for specific accounts.
  • Work closely with the Sourcing team to ensure all specs and sample comments are sent according to timelines.
  • Attend kick-off meetings with Sales and Merchandising to understand upcoming programs.
  • Assess initial project requests from sales to ensure target costs and timing are met.
  • Create production timelines including all deliverable dates for all departments.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing to ensure products meet costing targets and margin goals.
  • Display in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process and cost engineer styles to help margins.
  • Educate the Product Development and Design team on production and costing limitations.
  • Stay informed on new vendor capabilities or techniques and share with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with Sourcing/Material Developers to develop new materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Address problems with work quality and issues between employees in a timely manner.
  • Brainstorm with Design, Art, and Product Development teams on new innovative product ideas.
  • Participate in all sample review meetings and guide the team on next steps for the product.
  • Troubleshoot sampling issues and offer creative solutions.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Compliance departments to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Work with customer service to resolve customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with PD Operations on process improvements and workflow reviews.
  • Improve communication across departments for efficient PD processes.
  • Identify and correct potential problems due to timing or production capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Design, Art, Sales, and Sourcing teams for technical and cost assessments on new product lines.
  • Create technical specs for all products as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain seasonal product lists and routine status reporting.
  • Manage and track the development schedule of all products to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage relationships with external partners throughout the development process.
  • Serve as the main point of contact throughout the development process, providing clear communications.
  • Create a great environment for professional development by challenging and guiding the team.
  • Participate in creating and executing development teams' near and long-term strategy goals.

Requirements

  • Degree in Fashion Design or Product Development.
  • 5-10 years' experience in fashion accessories product development or technical design.
  • 3-4 years prior management or leadership experience required.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Photoshop experience is a plus.
  • Extensive experience working with overseas and domestic factories.
  • Advanced understanding of the product development cycle.
  • Vast knowledge of technical construction and materials.
  • Experience managing product timelines.
  • Understanding of product costing.
  • Ability to inspire, coach, and develop a team.
  • Adaptability to frequent changes in project direction, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Capability to train and assist new hires.
  • Ability to lead a team in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with overseas offices and factories.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $105,000 - $130,500 annually.
  • Eligibility for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
