About the position
The Low Carbon Processes Postdoctoral Researcher position at Idaho National Laboratory focuses on applying techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA) to support decision-making and project evaluation in various energy sectors. The role involves collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team to develop and assess projects related to bioenergy, hydrogen, solar energy, and supply chain resilience, contributing to the laboratory's mission in nuclear energy research and environmental sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team using a variety of modeling tools and approaches to solve problems across the areas of bioenergy, hydrogen, solar, supply chain resilience, and manufacturing.
- Help develop current and new projects at the INL by using TEA/LCA frameworks to establish economic and potential commercialization arguments for new ideas and concepts.
- Support INL leadership in meeting Department of Energy / industry expectations, milestones, and deliverables, and INL internal reporting metrics.
- Write scientific manuscripts for journal publication, and present research results at national and international conferences and meetings.
Requirements
- PhD in Engineering Economics, Forest Economics, Resource Economics, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business or a related field.
- Degree requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the past 5 years.
- Experience with Techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA).
- Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English.
