About The Position

The Low-Code Digital Application Builder position is a part-time remote role focused on developing and maintaining low-code applications using the Knack platform. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance internal processes and improve user experiences for city services. The candidate will be responsible for the entire application development life cycle, from scoping and design to testing and launch, while ensuring compliance with organizational requirements and best practices.

Requirements

• At minimum two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience building no-code or low-code applications for customer-facing and internal workflows.
• Experience building in Knack, including data management, complex automations, and integrations, is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Javascript.
• Additional experience in UI/UX design, service design, product management, or software development is a plus.
• Experience with WYSIWYG frontend platforms (Softr, Bubble, etc.) and Integration-as-a-service platforms (Zapier, Make, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience working with agile methodologies and on cross-functional software development teams.
• Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git) and development best practices.
• Familiarity with web and mobile user interface design best practices.
• User-centric philosophy of application development with a strong desire to understand user needs.
• Collaboration with diverse stakeholders, executives, and peers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and maintain existing low-code Knack applications.
• Scope, design, build, test, and launch new low-code digital applications that simplify and automate internal processes.
• Develop documentation throughout the application development life cycle.
• Troubleshoot and correct problems, ensuring applications are well-maintained.
• Thoroughly test and ensure quality as new and modified solutions are released.
• Propose solution options to diverse stakeholders and support decision-making on technical design choices.
• Capture and measure necessary data while keeping user experience in mind.
• Ensure platform configuration is compliant with organizational requirements and data management best practices.
• Build and maintain integrations with other systems to meet data integration and security standards.
• Build out training & certification for internal application builders and owners, coaching and supporting cohorts of builders.
• Collaborate with teams to scope and execute the migration of existing Knack applications to other no-code platforms.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate no-code/low-code platforms based on specific application requirements.
• Assist in project planning and estimation.
• Perform related work as required.
