About the position

The St. Paul's Schools is seeking substitute teachers for the Lower School, covering grades PreK through 4th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. The primary purpose of this role is to provide classroom coverage when regular faculty members are unavailable due to illness or personal matters. Substitute teachers will collaborate closely with the faculty and division heads to ensure effective classroom management and support for students' academic needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of students in the classroom, ensuring proper behavior and completion of assigned work.
• Support students academically by reviewing their work and answering questions.
• Communicate regularly with the class teacher regarding student updates and classroom behavior.
• Provide regular summaries of work completed by students.
• Coordinate with division head or dean of students on behavioral issues.
• Comply with all building procedures, expectations, and schedules.
• Work cooperatively with other teachers in the grade or division.
• Assist faculty member with grading, attendance, and LMS maintenance.
• Serve in additional duties as assigned by division head, including recess supervision and assisting with lunches.

Requirements

• Experience teaching or a major in education is preferred but not required.
• Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Ability to function well both independently and in a team setting.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism and ability to meet deadlines.
