About the position

The Lower School Teaching Assistant at The Grayson School plays a vital role in supporting core instruction for elementary students in a gifted education setting. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering a student-centered learning environment and are eager to contribute to an innovative educational community. The role begins as an interim position with the potential for extension into the next school year, focusing on the intellectual and social-emotional needs of gifted children.

Responsibilities

• Support core instruction to elementary students.
• Foster an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment.
• Differentiate instruction for a variety of learners.
• Communicate clearly in both written and spoken forms.

Requirements

• Experience in elementary or early childhood education.
• Up-to-date clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
• An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
• A willingness to differentiate for a variety of learners.
• The ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken communication.

Nice-to-haves

• A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process).
• An advanced degree in education or related field.
• Experience working with gifted children.
• Experience with Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions.
• A joyful attitude toward discussing the meaning of life, the universe, and everything with children.
