About the position
The LPN - Behavioral Health position at Harbor Oaks Hospital involves providing nursing care and services in a mental health and addiction treatment setting. The role emphasizes patient safety, effective communication, and collaboration with healthcare teams to meet the diverse needs of patients. The LPN will work full-time, with shifts available for both night and day schedules.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient health and administer basic care utilizing the nursing process within the LPN/LVN scope of practice.
- Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety.
- Collaborate with others to ensure that patients' needs are met and resolve customer complaints when necessary.
- Provide for the basic comfort of patients and implement individualized nursing interventions.
- Discuss care provided with patients and listen to their concerns.
- Report status changes and concerns to registered nurses and doctors.
- Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers, and others involved in treatment.
- Provide for the safe delivery of medication in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policies and external standards.
- Responsible for thorough, accurate reporting and documentation of patient symptoms, responses, and progress.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
- One or more years of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility preferred.
- Current LPN/LVN license as required by state.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid certification may be required based on state or facility.
