About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Good Samaritan Society provides professional nursing care for residents in a long-term care setting. This role involves working under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents while contributing to their care plans and assessments. The LPN is responsible for administering medications, documenting care, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for residents under supervision.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
  • Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care.
  • Contribute to the assessment of residents' health status.
  • Recognize problems and recommend solutions in emergent situations.
  • Counsel residents and family members on prevention and treatment plans.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board or multi-state licensure privileges.
  • Completion of required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements.
  • Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility if required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
