About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role emphasizes the delivery of competent, compassionate, and cost-effective nursing care while adhering to established policies and procedures. The LPN will engage in the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, and will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist with the implementation and administration of the nursing process relative to the medical and nursing plan of care.
• Utilize nursing skills of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in patient care delivery.
• Ensure quality patient care is provided by adhering to established policies and procedures.
• Implement and revise the plan of care as determined by the Registered Nurse based on patient progress.
• Participate in bedside shift report, safety huddles, multidisciplinary patient rounds, and hourly rounding.

Requirements

• Current Nursing State or Compact Licensure as a Practical Nurse.
• BCLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association.
• Completion of IV Therapy Certification from a program approved by the Kansas Board of Nursing.
