About the position

The Psychiatric or Mental/Behavioral Health LPN is responsible for delivering patient care in psychiatric settings, including hospitals and community environments. This role involves applying the nursing process under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and collaborating with the care team to ensure effective patient care. The position is full-time, with night shifts totaling 36 hours per week, and is offered as a 13-week contract with options for extension.

Responsibilities

• Administer and order medications, perform blood draws, and conduct nursing assessments as per state regulations.
• Take medication orders and transcribe them to the MAR, administer medications, and manage medication inventory.
• Monitor vital signs including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and weight, and perform blood draws as required.
• Collect urine samples and complete necessary paperwork while adhering to nursing standards.
• Maintain the integrity of clinical records through timely and accurate documentation.
• Submit required paperwork to appropriate departments as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current LPN license in the state of assignment.
• 1 year of experience in a psychiatric care setting preferred.
• Compliance with relevant professional standards of practice.
• Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
• Current CPR certification if applicable.
• TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
• Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
• Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
• Computer proficiency required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
