About the position

The LPN, Med/Surge PRN position at Valley View Medical Center involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role focuses on assisting with patient assessments, implementing care plans, and ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of patients in a state-of-the-art medical facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse.
• Contribute to patient assessments by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Perform plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• Administer medication as required and document patient care given.
• Assist RN with the development of the plan of care.
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited LPN/LVN program and successful completion of the NCLEX-PN exam.
• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in Arizona or compact/multistate licensure accepted.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Completion of EKG exam at time of hire and NIH stroke scale assigned and completed within 90 days of hire.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
