About the position

The LPN position at Nationwide Children's Hospital involves providing technical nursing care to acute and chronically ill children and selected adult patients under the supervision of an RN Care Manager. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with Ohio nursing regulations, while also promoting a collaborative culture within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and documents patient/family objective/subjective data and family observations.
  • Reports pertinent findings to the RN Care Manager responsible for directing the patient's care.
  • Follows the plan of care appropriate to the developmental level of the patient.
  • Collaborates with the RN Care Manager regarding appropriate tasks and nursing interventions.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to established standards, demonstrating competence in specified nursing care.
  • Administers and documents medications by all routes, utilizing the five rights and related safety recommendations.
  • Performs various IV therapy procedures, including verification of peripheral IV solutions and examination of infusion sites.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
  • Must be licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Must complete an Ohio Board of Nursing approved medication test.
  • Demonstrated competence in specified nursing care.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
