About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Sanford Health's Sheldon Care Center provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in a long-term care setting. This role involves working under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of residents while contributing to their assessment and care plans. The LPN is responsible for administering medications, documenting care interactions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for residents under supervision.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care.
• Contribute to the assessment of residents' health status.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and healthcare providers.
• Counsel residents and family members on prevention and treatment plans.
• Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status.
• Assist in emergent situations and recommend solutions.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Currently holds an unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board.
• Completion of a pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience.
• Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility is preferred.
• Must obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
• Experience in IV therapy/management is a plus.
